All of a sudden boy bands became such a big thing again.
People wonder why girls are so crazy about boy bands. Maybe it’s because of
their good looks or their songs. But it’s not just their pretty faces that get
them to where they are; it’s their fans. Boy bands usually market to the female
population between the ages 10 through 19. Now, the way I see it is that many
of the teen girls say the boy band has “saved their life.” I wonder why that
is. For example, One Direction the biggest boy band in the world has had a big
effect on the female teen age population. No other boy band has caused so much
hysteria beside the Beatles and that was all the way in the 60s.
According to the article from the Guardian it states that,
“Psychologists say girls get together and scream at boys as an expression of
their fears about reaching sexual maturity. They can't imagine feeling desire
for anyone, least of all the kids at school, so they fixate on unreachable,
unthreatening stars – usually clean-cut, pretty lads – and practice feeling
lovelorn and rejected in a group therapy context instead.” What that means is
that girls prefer so “in love” or obsessed with a boyband then with a real boy
from school. Also a neuroscientist explains that these girls get shivers, they
scream, and cry but that doesn’t mean that the girls are crazy they are just
excited.
I think that the type of girl that listens to boy bands is
someone who is shy, not very confident, or maybe feeling sad. Like I said in
the first paragraph, some girls have stated that boy bands have saved their
life. On the social media website Twitter, I have seen many teenaged girls
express their feelings about boy bands and what they did for them.
