Dear Blog Reader,
Throughout this year I have been working on my blog that is about boy bands. Over the months each blog post has gotten better.

In the beginning of the year I first started off with the sources and short book reviews. The ones I am talking about is the book review “A Century of Pop” by Hugh Gregory and Billboard. They don’t have a lot of details and are both really short.  At that time I still wasn't really sure how to structure those reviews so they aren't as good. The last book response I did was One Directions “Where We Are: Our band, our story”. That one is one of my favorites because I worked really well on it. This blog post contains a lot of detail and I give a brief summary of what this book is about. Also this post was a lot longer than the last one and has a good paragraph structure.

Next what I was more focused on was writing reviews or SSR about boys bands. I would write how and when they started, their success and what they are planning for the future. The first one I did was of the Jackson 5. That one was a short post and tried to put as much detail with little words. I think the best review I did was on 5 Seconds of Summer. Even though that post is really long it contains a lot of detail and a lot of personal opinion. I talk about how much I like them and how I am going to see them soon. It is a three paragraph review and is structured nicely.

The blog assignments made me a stronger writer because it gave me the chance to write freely. For example, my One Direction post was the one where I first started to write more. Compared to the older post that one I added more sentences because I knew what I was talking about. Also other free writes are my poems and short stories. My short stories are literally really short and same with my Haiku. I tried making them really funny because that’s I had to put some of my personality into my posts.

Hopefully I will continue writing posts about boy bands. I found this very helpful because I get better at writing and presenting.

SSR: One Direction Demographics

Most people think that the boy band One Direction only attracts 12 years old but you are completely wrong. I didn't even know this but they have a fan base of men and women over 50 years. About 46% of the fans are 35 years or older and then 15% of theses fan are over 55 years.

It amuses me too see that there are a lot of older people that enjoy listening to One Direction. I read that the older fans like listening to them because it reminds them when they were younger and they can relate. Hopefully people can now see that One Direction isn't just for teen girls. Everyone can listen to listen to them. Their music is really mature so I don’t see the problem of liking them.

Book Response

In 2013, One Direction released their third official book called Where We Are: Our band, our story. Each of the members of the band gives their personal stories and how being in the band has changed their life. They also talk about when they first started on the X Factor and what they have planned for the future. The book is filled with many pictures from their previous tours Up All Night and Take Me Home Tour.

What I liked from this book is that there is a part where they are all being interviewed. They ask them questions like “who’s the funny one of the band?” and like “who is the messiest.” Each of the members has different personalities so it’s really funny what they have to say, especially Louis Tomlinson. Also what I like is that they didn't know they were going to be so successful. They talk about what they had planned for future if they weren't in One Direction.

There wasn't anything I dislike from this book. It gives a lot of detail on their life, what they do when they are on break when they aren't on tour and how they prepare when they are about to go on stage. Obviously a teenager will enjoy this book more than an adult unless you like One Direction.

In conclusion, I recommend that you should read this book if you really like One Direction and if you don’t then I don’t need your negativity.

Passion Blog

I’m going to rant about how people think that boy bands are so lame. To be honest I don’t think they are lame but that’s just my opinion. I think they are quite good. I have heard of other boy bands and I like them but they are just so old and don’t really catch my attention.  Like for example I only really like one boy band and that is One Direction. It gets kind of annoying on how much people tell me constantly that they suck. Obviously for me they don’t suck so stop.

Short Story

One day there was this girl named Amanda, she was so in love with a band that people started to question her and make fun of her. She was so fed up with it that one days she just hit everyone with a shoe that made fun of her. They all stopped and she kept on listening to that band in peace.

5 Second Of Summer

5 Seconds Of Summer or 5SOS is an Australian band that was formed in 2011. In the band is Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin. Michael started the band and asked his friends of they wanted to join. They started off by doing covers of songs on you tube and they started preforming in small venues around Australia.

They released Somewhere New in 2012 and they were only a little famous in Australia. They had a few fans here and there but it wasn't until 2013 that they were known international. 5SOS were asked to join One Direction to be their opening act during their Take Me Home Tour. They accepted and went on tour with them, They played in Europe, The U.S and back in Australia. They got a positive reaction from the crowd while preforming and gained more fan each day. After Finishing the Take Me Home Tour they announce that they were going to be touring in the UK and in Europe. All shows were sold out after they tickets went on sale.

Their tour started in January of this year and later on they announced that they were coming back to America. Their first stop in the U.S is going to be in San Francisco ( it makes me sad because I am not going) then they will tour all around the U.S. After their American tour is over they will take a break and this summer they will return to be One Directions opening act in their Where We Are Stadium tour (I am going to that one!!!).

Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers are a group/band that was started in 2005. Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas were formed into a band when their youngest brother Nick got called back to the studio to record. The recorded label said they would look good as a band and they could all sing and play instruments so they signed all of them to record a record.  There first song was “S.O.S” which made it to number one on iTunes. Also their album made it on the top five on the Billboard charts and went platinum.

Their second album, A Little Bit Longer, was released in 2009 and made it to number one. The Jonas Brothers were told that their audience under the age of 11. They were then signed to Disney channel and the recorded the movie Camp Rock. Camp Rock was also recorded in 2009 so they got more publicity. Also they had their on TV show on Disney Channel that had had good ratings.

They went on tour all over the U.S and started to write another album. They had 3 good years of success but then started to die down. It was rumored that they were having problems and that they have broke up. One of the brothers got married and had his own TV show with him and his wife. It wasn't until 2012 when they unexpectedly announced that they were going back to touring. They went on tour in South America and sold out every show. In April of 2013 they released their song Pom Poms. It went to number one and then they announce that they were going on tour in the U.S.

Then after finishing a successful tour in the U.S they announce that it was their last tour and that they will be breaking up. They are continuing as solo artists.

On this post i will have Ana Ornelas tell us about boybands.

Boy band reviews
I have listened to boy bands but don’t know the history of how they all started. I think that when boy bands sing it sounds a whole lot better because all the band members are singing and working together. One of my favorite bands is one direction I really like who they sing. I think that boy bands are pretty awesome. Some of the boy bands don’t know each other until they meet at places like TV shows.  I don’t like how some of the boy bands repeat other singers songs but there are some occasions when they make there own songs and that is what I like to hear.  I don’t know what kind of boy bands I really like but what I am sure of is that I enjoy listening to them. Most boy bands mostly sing love, hate, or breakup music.  Some of the boy bands that came out were in the 70s it was the Jackson 5 and menudo. Boy bands are made up of 5 teens and they all have their own special place. For example the sweet one most likely to appear shirtless on posters and on photo shots also is the one that will be the most likely to success as a solo for his career he would also be a good protagonist. The bad boy/ rebel are the one who has the rougher edge the one that doesn’t obey the one that all girls want. The cute one is the second sweet one often meant as a foil. The older brother is the cool and also the reassuring that girls can relate to the boy bands. Then it’s the shy one it’s the nerd from the band. That is what boy bands are all made of.   Overall I think that boy bands are really awesome I like how they all work together and how they sing.

Demographics & Psychology of Boy Bands

All of a sudden boy bands became such a big thing again. People wonder why girls are so crazy about boy bands. Maybe it’s because of their good looks or their songs. But it’s not just their pretty faces that get them to where they are; it’s their fans. Boy bands usually market to the female population between the ages 10 through 19. Now, the way I see it is that many of the teen girls say the boy band has “saved their life.” I wonder why that is. For example, One Direction the biggest boy band in the world has had a big effect on the female teen age population. No other boy band has caused so much hysteria beside the Beatles and that was all the way in the 60s.

According to the article from the Guardian it states that, “Psychologists say girls get together and scream at boys as an expression of their fears about reaching sexual maturity. They can't imagine feeling desire for anyone, least of all the kids at school, so they fixate on unreachable, unthreatening stars – usually clean-cut, pretty lads – and practice feeling lovelorn and rejected in a group therapy context instead.” What that means is that girls prefer so “in love” or obsessed with a boyband then with a real boy from school. Also a neuroscientist explains that these girls get shivers, they scream, and cry but that doesn’t mean that the girls are crazy they are just excited.

I think that the type of girl that listens to boy bands is someone who is shy, not very confident, or maybe feeling sad. Like I said in the first paragraph, some girls have stated that boy bands have saved their life. On the social media website Twitter, I have seen many teenaged girls express their feelings about boy bands and what they did for them.

N Sync

N sync, a all American boyband from Orlando, Florida started in the mid 90's. Members being Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass. the boys of N sync did not have instant success it took them a while to reach fame. Then in 1998 they released their first album *NSYNC, which was the album to get them to the beginning of their career. Later in 2000 they released their 2nd album No Strings Attached. They had hits like 'Bye Bye Bye' and 'Its Gonna Be Me' topped the charts. Later on they seemed to be having problems and they later broke up.After the break up, a few of the member tried going solo but it didn't work out for some. The only one that kind of did have success was Justin Timberlake.

In 2013 during the MTV VMA, N sync made an appearance as a group again during Justin Timberlake's solo performance. They preformed together a few of their hits from back in the day. The performance as a group only lasted about four minutes. Then Justin continued to preform by himself. Even though the performance didn't last long old fans on N sync were very happy this happened.

Short Story

One day Annie was taking selfies in  the bathroom, as she was doing that her phone started to play music. The song that started playing was a song by one direction and she fell in love with it.
